Between 8 and 9 in the morning, we were all picked up at our hotel by our guide and driver, Howard. Around 9 o’clock, the Jeep Safari and Beach Adventure- West tour began, and we drove westward through Willemstad. Along the way, Howard told us all about the island, its population, and the surroundings. Once we arrived at Hato, we took a small road where the off-road adventure began. We drove with the jeep across the plains of San Pedro and reached a cave. In the cave, we took a short walk and saw various types of bats that live there. Our tour continued through the plains to Christoffel park, where we visited the Savonet Museum, followed by lunch outside at the picnic tables.
After lunch, we drove to the northernmost point of the island, where you have a magnificent view of the rugged northern side of the island. We also visited a “boca,” where we had a photo opportunity before driving to Playa Grandi beach or as locals call it ” Playa Piskadó“. At this beach, we had about 15 minutes to admire the turtles, which are fed by local fishermen. After this stop, we continued to a small private beach where we had a refreshing swim. The day had flown by, and we continued our journey along the salt pans of JanKok to spot the flamingos. After this, it was unfortunately time to head back to the hotels and said farewell to Howard. It was a very diverse and enjoyable day; we learned a lot about the beautiful island of Curaçao!
