Have you ever heard of Spanish Water? The lagoon is filled with mangrove forests and outlined by hills and villas. A great way to explore the Spanish Water is by stand up paddling. You’ll paddle around two hours through the mangroves and come across very special bird species.
This tour begins at either 10 am at the Windsurfing Curaçao at Caracasbaai. Spanish Water is an astounding lagoon, characterized by mangrove forests and outlined by beautiful villas and the impressive Tafel Berg. Some parts of the lagoon are too narrow to reach by boat. With our guided Stand Up Paddle tour you will learn to paddle standing on a SUP board while taking in some breathtaking views and learn more about the flora and fauna and history.
You will start paddling at the foot of the Tafel Berg and find a way right through the mangroves. Astonishing bird species such as pelicans and frigate birds soar right past your ears. Halfway you will enjoy a short swim break, or you can just relax on your paddleboard while enjoying the nature in complete silence. You will sup further along with the wind, pass the villas, and the anchored sailing ships of Spanish Water, to eventually arrive back at Windsurfing Curaçao.
What an amazing tour! We tried SUP for the first time and we were not disappointed. From the beginning the service was excellent – the booking conversation with Hilde open and friendly, the pick up by Julia perfect and the tour with Anthea excellent. We learned a lot about SUP itself as well as about the mangroves. Perfect – the tunnel of love. We can recommend this tour to everyone who wants to spend 2…3 hours on Curacao in a relaxed atmosphere. Have the courage – you won’t regret it. Oh, and there is also a small bar and WiFi.
We came to the island on a cruise and booked outside the excursions offered on our trip, and the transfer taxi was very responsive and detailed on where and how to meet up via WhatsApp. A great way to enjoy the island in the Spanish River on the paddle boards in a beginner friendly way. The guides were helpful and knowledgeable throughout, and provided snack and water 1/2 way through. The guides took pictures on their GoPro that you could download instantly, and they email you the zip as well. Very chill and fun!
Max took us out on a paddle along the mangroves in the bay and it was a great experience. I am an experienced paddler but was with a bunch of first timers including my wife and had my 8 year old son on the front of my board. Everyone was safe and comfortable the whole time and it was really fun. We stayed right up against the mangroves along the twisting shoreline for awhile, took a break back in a tiny cove, then paddled back with a strong wind at our backs through the wider part of the bay. Highly recommend for any level of experience.
Great experience for my first time paddle boarding. I can’t swim but they made sure the experience was safe despite that. Max was a lovely instructor. It was so a lot of fun and I highly recommend doing it.
