Half Day Off-Road & Snorkel Safari: A Curaçao Adventure

There’s something magical about exploring Curaçao beyond the well-known beaches—especially when you’re bouncing along rugged terrain in a safari jeep, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, and soaking up stories about the island’s rich traditions. Our Half Day Off-Road & Snorkel Safari tour was exactly that: a half-day journey full of discovery, nature, and a touch of adventure.

Our day began with a convenient hotel pick-up, and from there, the real adventure started. First stop: Dinah Veeris’ legendary botanical garden. Nestled in a quiet part of the island, this oasis is more than just a pretty garden—it’s a treasure trove of herbal knowledge passed down through generations. From natural remedies to everyday uses of local plants, I was amazed by how much wisdom is rooted here. Our guide was full of energy (and great jokes), which made even the hottest part of the day feel light and fun.

From there, we journeyed to St. Joris Bay, a peaceful and breezy escape with wide open views and that calm, laid-back Curaçao vibe. We had some time to take in the scenery before moving on to one of the most exciting parts of the tour: a scenic ride and hike through the Coral Tabak terrain. This part of the island feels wild and untouched. As we navigated the rocky coral paths, the driver shared fascinating insights about how Curaçao’s unique coral landscape was formed over time. We also paused to admire views of the new sea levels, snapping a few photos along the way.

And then came the perfect ending: snorkeling at Director’s Bay. The water here is unreal—half light blue, half deep navy—and you could easily lose track of time swimming among colorful fish and coral formations. It’s one of those serene spots that stays with you long after you leave.

By the end of the afternoon, we dropped the guests back at their hotels, sun-kissed and full of memories. If I had to point out one small thing, it would be the jeep—it added to the adventure, but it did get a bit noisy, which sometimes made it hard to catch everything the driver was saying through the mic. Still, that didn’t take away from the overall experience.

Whether you’re a nature lover, a culture seeker, or just someone looking for a unique way to explore Curaçao, this tour delivers a well-balanced blend of all three. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to see more than just the postcard spots!
