The Best View of the Sunset on the Catamaran BlueFinn

Category: | Published on: September 6, 2018 | By Jyona Jacobs

Sunset Sailing around to watch the sunset is a fantastic way to spend your Friday evening. On the 10th of August at 5:30 pm I stepped aboard the Catamaran BlueFinn. The 75 feet, magnificent catamaran was docked off the pier by Mood Beach. Entering mood beach, you are surrounded by these tall palm trees, cabana beds, and in the distance, you can already see the mast from the BlueFinn. As you step onto the pier you can see the luxurious white catamaran. With a hop I have climbed onboard, with the sun low in the sky, I have settled in my seat near the Captain’s seat.

Once sitting and settled on board the catamaran, I was offered a drink from their open premium bar. This means there is a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks where you can choose from. Soon we set sail and mood beach slowly became smaller in the distance as we headed towards to east, in the direction of Spanish Water.

Spanish Water Curaçao

Entering Spanish Water, we have the stunning St. Barbara Beach and Resort on our right, the sun low on our left just peaking over the cliffs. This left beautiful and stunning sun rays’ dancing on the water. Our charming guides were funny and attentive and making sure we always had a full cup! The first bites were passed around fresh from the BBQ! Be sure to let them know any dietary restrictions. We sailed around Spanish Water looking at the amazing villas, ships cruising around, the marinas located there, and rugged terrain surrounding the waters.

By now the sun was shining heavily on our faces and was slowly sinking in the sky. The sky and ocean turned into a striking, bright golden color. As we left Spanish Water and back into open waters the sail was opened. We sailed back west, in the direction of Willemstad, and we watched the sun set bit by bit. The sky turned into this fiery orange before setting just before 7 pm. We continued sailing as the sky got darker and the stars started coming out one by one. We could see the island come alight, with the city lights of Punda. Within our sight the popular area Pietermaai we soon turned back towards the east back to Mood Beach. At 8 pm the lights were turned off on board and we sailed in full darkness, creating a romantic atmosphere. By 8:10 we were back at Mood Beach and the boulevard was very busy so there is plenty to do once offboard.

This was a magnificent tour and a breath-taking way to explore the island by sea. Moreover, explore the island with its gorgeous sunsets and at night. A tremendous way to start your Friday night and weekend.

My fellow sailors

  • As you know by now I am quite sensitive to motion sickness so please, if you are like me take your seasick medication.
  • Be aware you will get splashed from time to time
  • Be mindful that if you are planning on drinking on this tour please be sure to eat beforehand. You will only receive delicious BBQ snacks.
