Are you arriving in Curacao by cruise and not sure which beach to go to? We’re here to help with some tips and recommendations on easily accessible beaches.

What do you need?

Firstly, transportation is key. While Curacao is small, exploring it thoroughly often demands a car. However, if your time is limited due to the cruise schedule, taxis with fixed prices are available for your convenience.

You can choose from a variety of easily accessible beaches in the area from the cruise ship terminal; the one you choose truly depends on your personal preferences, as they are all worthwhile visits.

Let’s explore!

Option 1: If you want a quiet beach without lots of amenities like bars and shade spots, Caracas Bay is a good pick. It is about a 20-minute drive from the terminal. This beach on Curacao’s east side is mainly used by locals and is great for snorkeling. You’ll see all sorts of fish and even a sunken boat. Just note, there is no sand here, just rocks, which makes the water really clear.

On weekends, the beach can get busy with locals having cozy parties and barbecues. Finding parking is usually easy, but it’s smart to keep an eye on where you leave your car.

If you’re feeling a bit adventurous and want to explore something different without going all the way to the west end of the island, Caracas Bay is a good choice.

Option 2: When you think of Curacao, you imagine blue water, white sand, and palm trees, and Mambo Beach offers just that. It’s only a 15-minute drive from the harbor and has everything you need – restaurants, bars, shops, and shady spots.

Mambo Beach is man-made but beautiful, with calm, clear water perfect for swimming and snorkeling, especially for kids. You can also relax with a drink and snacks on the beach. And if you want something extra to do, the Curacao Sea Aquarium is right next door.

Mambo Beach is a great option because it has something for everyone and for all ages. In addition, on Fridays and Sundays they play music during happy hour, making the beach even more fun and lively.

Option 3: Jan Thiel Beach is another man-made gem not far from Willemstad, it offers similar vibes to Mambo Beach and it is one of the favorites among tourists. It provides a perfect setting to relax and enjoy the Caribbean waters of Curacao.

Surrounded by resorts, Jan Thiel Beach boasts various restaurants offering diverse cuisines and local shops to explore. While there’s a small entrance fee, you can also opt for beach beds for added comfort. Plus, do not miss the infinity pool at Papagayo Beach Resort, adding an extra touch of luxury.

With its range of amenities, Jan Thiel Beach caters to all ages, making it especially enjoyable for kids and young travelers seeking nighttime fun.

Option 4: Last but not least, there is BlueBay Beach in Curacao, which is considered one of the most popular beaches due to its perfect waters for snorkeling, surrounded by palm trees and white sand typical of a Caribbean beach. This wonderful spot is just a 15-minute drive from the cruise ship terminal, with a taxi ride costing around $20-$30.

The area is well-equipped as it is part of a resort. The beach itself features a restaurant and bar, a few small shops, and hosts happy hour on Fridays and BBQ lunches on Sundays. It is ideal for families and kids, offering calm, blue waters perfect for snorkeling.

There is a small entrance fee, and once inside, you will need to pay for amenities such as beach beds and other facilities. BlueBay Beach offers six different package options to cater to various needs, ranging from just paying for a beach bed to fully inclusive packages with snacks and drinks.

In conclusion…

Facing the tough decision of choosing one among these three beautiful beaches? Remember, each beach offers its own distinct ambiance and attractions, catering to different preferences and interests. Whichever you choose – Mambo Beach, Jan Thiel Beach, Caracas Bay or Blue Bay make sure to create unforgettable memories on the shores of Curacao.
